A document on its own is a dead end. The value is in the links between them, invoice to shipment, product line to customs code, figure to total. Raphiel pulls the fields off each page, then connects them across documents, so separate files read as one record.

The right tools …
Born-digital PDFs are read straight from their text layer. Scans and photographed labels go through OCR, rendered at high resolution and read with classical optical character recognition.
So a clean PDF is never degraded by needless OCR, and a crumpled scan still gets read.

Flag uncertainties ...
Every field is scored against a ground truth, one that can be human verified with versioned documents if required. We mark uncertain results and hand these back for verification. We don’t drift quietly and hope.

Hover over a value and see where we read it from on the original, then if it’s wrong, fix it in place.
We configure further validations dependent on your documents, i.e. Raphiel checks its homework against raw and amended values, data has to make sense before it’s passed along.
Amendments get written to an append-only journal and can be double-checked, rolled back and remain auditable.

Each stage of a document’s life gets form and colour, eg a distribution flow: Ordered → Commercial Invoice Received/Paid → Shipped → Customs Declaration → Cleared → Landed.
Each stage has its own shape, making the process readable at a glance. If a stage hasn’t been captured, we show this too.

A connected view ...
Raphiel links documents into chains, say commercial invoice to sales invoice to customs declaration, all matched on pertinent data.
Every link is recorded as a replayable event: a connection can’t exist without a trace of how it was made, so you get a connected view of what’s actually happening in your business.
When we connect the documents we can easily answer questions like:
- Which supplier invoices haven’t been matched to a delivery?
- What did we buy from this supplier in the last six months?
- Which invoices contain this product?
- Where has the price of this item changed?
- Which documents still need attention?
